The Restaurant Host is the first and last point of contact for guests, providing a warm and welcoming experience upon arrival and departure. The host manages reservations, organizes the seating chart to optimize service flow, and ensures guests are seated promptly while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly as they enter the restaurant.
  • Manage waitlists and reservations accurately using the reservation system or manual waitlist.
  • Escort guests to their tables and provide menus.
  • Communicate wait times effectively to guests.
  • Monitor dining room, entryway, and overall guest flow to maintain an efficient seating plan.
  • Assist servers by refilling waters, clearing plates, or resetting tables when needed.
  • Answer the phone promptly and professionally to take reservations or provide information.
  • Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, menus, and entrance area.
  • Follow all restaurant policies and procedures to ensure guest safety and satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Previous host, cashier, or customer service experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
