Security Guard

About the Job
Description
Are you ready to play a vital role in safeguarding art, history, and people? The Worcester Art Museum is seeking dedicated and highly adaptable individuals to join our Security team as a Part-Time Security Guard. This non-exempt position offers an hourly wage of $16.25.
As a Security Guard, you will serve as the eyes and ears of the Museum, when staff and the public may or may not be present, ensuring the safety of artwork, the building, and everyone within it. Your responsibilities will include continuous monitoring of advanced security systems and taking appropriate action when necessary. Your shift will involve conducting regular physical rounds throughout the building. You will check access and manage deliveries, as well as communicating anomalies and daily activities. It is essential to follow departmental protocols to contact appropriate parties without delay when addressing emergencies. We need someone with personal confidence who can take the initiative to act upon situations, rather than being hesitant to ask questions. You should not hesitate to contact management, even at 2:00 AM, if a situation arises, as you are our key presence when others are not on site.
This role demands an exceptional degree of flexibility. We are actively hiring for second (4:00 PM to midnight) and third (midnight to 8:00 AM) shifts, which means you must be comfortable working nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as required. The second shift specifically needs individuals who are very flexible as most museum events occur during this time, leading to constantly shifting closing times and varied daily schedules. A preference for a set, limited schedule is not possible with this role. The third shift is generally more routine and repetitive. This position offers significant independence, especially during off-hours, and involves less interaction with the wider WAM staff. This environment suits individuals who thrive in a more solitary work setting.
Position Title: Security Guard
Employment Type: Part Time, Non-Exempt
Department: Security
Division: Operations
Reports to: Security Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Salary Range: $16.25 Hourly
