Shipco Transport Inc., a leading international cargo transportation company, has an immediate opening at our NYC branch located in Hoboken, New Jersey for an experienced Specialist - US Ocean P&L.

We are looking for a proactive, dynamic, highly motivated, and reliable individual who understands and values the importance of teamwork. The ideal candidate should be able to think outside the box, operate beyond their local market, and remain mindful of different time zones and regional norms when collaborating with global teams.

This position reports directly to the Manager, Head of U.S. Ocean P&L and plays a key role in managing file performance, ensuring reporting accuracy, and supporting cross-functional coordination.


Key Responsibilities

The Specialist – U.S. Ocean P&L will assist with critical functions including file management, invoicing, reporting, and coordination with multiple departments. The position offers hands-on training and a transition phase, where responsibilities will be assigned based on expertise and team needs.

• Review income and cost components of individual shipment files and ensure accuracy of profit
• Support the month-end closing process by ensuring timely and accurate file closures in accordance with monthly deadlines.
• Monitor and reconcile discrepancies between invoices, accruals, and actual charges. Work closely with internal teams and external agents to investigate and resolve issues related to invoicing, settlements, and reservations, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with Operations, Accounting and back-office teams to maintain consistency in process and goal alignment and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Audit and report on loss files, identifying root causes and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.

• Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or P&L-related financial roles.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in financial data and reporting.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across departments and cultures.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, or accounting preferred (or equivalent work experience.
• 1+ year of similar experience in Ocean.
• Proficiency in Excel
