Staff Data Engineer

We're working with a global aerospace, defense, and security company that is at the forefront of technological innovation, developing advanced systems and solutions crucial for national and international security.

The Role

• Design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines that collect, ingest, transform, store, and serve data
• Apply systems engineering principles to ensure security, performance, and compliance with DoD/SOFSA standards
• Collaborate with Data Architects to create conceptual, logical, and physical data models
• Conduct data profiling, requirement analysis, and performance tuning throughout the solution lifecycle
• Identify and resolve production incidents; tune system parameters for optimal throughput and latency
• Advise on and design the integration of new data technology solutions into enterprise IT environments
  
  

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field
• Proficiency with data-mining and data-warehousing principles
• Experience with database management systems, query languages, table relationships, and views
• Expertise in Hadoop, Java, Python, SQL, Hive, and PIG for data exploration
• Understanding of DataOps processes and best practices
• Knowledge of data-security roles and responsibilities, with the ability to implement access-control and encryption safeguards
