Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for an entry level Geotechnical Engineer to assist with our projects in Canton, MI!
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting site investigations to assess subsurface conditions, soil properties, and geotechnical risks.
- Performing geotechnical analyses and calculations to determine foundation design parameters, slope stability, and earthwork specifications.
- Designing foundations, retaining structures, embankments, and other geotechnical structures.
- Preparing technical reports, drawings, and specifications for construction projects.
- Collaborating with other engineering disciplines, architects, and construction teams to ensure geotechnical considerations are integrated into project designs.
- Monitoring and inspecting construction activities to ensure compliance with geotechnical design requirements and specifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Prior experience in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, or related field is preferred, but not required.
- Have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or have the ability to obtain within 1 year.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- The role may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks, such as lifting equipment, moving soil samples, and standing for extended periods. Willingness to travel to project sites and work in outdoor environments is required.
