- Training: First 2–3 weeks on 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Position Overview
As a Welder at SMT, you’ll be responsible for laying out, fitting, and welding metal components to precise specifications. You’ll help build sub-assemblies and final products that meet our high standards for quality and durability.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret complex blueprints and welding diagrams
- Set up and operate welding, grinding, and cutting equipment
- Assemble parts and sub-assemblies to exact specifications
- Inspect finished welds for quality and accuracy
- Maintain production records and documentation
- Keep a clean and safe work environment
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 3 years of MIG welding experience in a manufacturing setting
- Proficient in reading blueprints and performing detailed math calculations
- Skilled with welding tools, calipers, micrometers, and grinders
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must pass respiratory medical evaluation, respirator training, and fit test prior to start
- Exposure to noise, fumes, heat, and dust typical of a manufacturing setting
- Use of PPE required (weld shield/helmet, etc.)
- No direct supervisory responsibilities
- Requires moderate independent judgment within company policies
