Position Summary

The Production Lead position plans, coordinates and inspects work in the production area and ensures that work is completed according to quality standards. This role also trains and mentors team members and works in cooperation with the Production Supervisor and staff. This role is a working Lead in the Fabrication department.

Responsibilities

Lead work activities for the assigned area and help team members as needed
Verify extrusions are the correct length, type and finish per production work order.
Fabricate production work orders per work order.
Ensure all inspection requirements are completed.
Verify cleanliness, overall appearance and quality of completed production work orders.
Complete required production paperwork and return to the Production Office.
Initiate preventative and corrective actions for problems with product or processes.
Offer solutions for problems with product or processes.
Be a safety role model for other employees by adhering to all Balco’s safety rules and regulations, participating in safety training and meetings, bringing safety issues to the attention of management
Train new employees in the Fabrication department.
Regular and routine attendance is required

Qualifications (Skills & Knowledge)

Knowledge of fabrication and/or welding techniques and tools.
Knowledge of relative safety standards for welding and willingness to use protective clothing (Face Shields, Gloves Etc.)
Able to read and properly interpret shop prints
Able to communicate effectively and professionally with team members and customers verbally and in writing.
Able to complete work accurately and on time.
Able to work collaboratively with direct team members, or across departments, and work independently as needed.
Able to properly utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Candidates who apply for positions requiring the use of a lift truck must be able to obtain certification and safely operate a lift truck.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Experience

2+ years of experience working in a role where fabrication was a primary job duty
1+ years of experience in a leadership role preferred
Experience using hand/power tools

Work Environment

Physical Conditions:

Production: This position works in a production facility and is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and utilize the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e.: eye/face protection, hearing protection, steel toes, etc.

Location:

In-office: This role is located at our office in Wichita, Kansas. Employees must be present at the office and available to perform the essential functions of their jobs whenever they are scheduled to work.

Other Requirements

Candidates who receive an offer of employment must successfully pass a background check and drug screen.
Must have finger dexterity
Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, and crouch occasionally
Must be able to safely lift 40 pounds

Compensation: CSW Industrials has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing salary ranges to ensure we remain competitive. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the CSWI Board of Directors. Sales roles are eligible for a sales bonus.
