Safety Superintendent

Description

The Safety and Training Superintendent is responsible for a significant range of safety functions to include monitoring and coaching on job sites, subcontractor safety performance, training, accident investigations, regulatory compliance and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Perform site safety surveys to ensure compliance with OSHA, state and local Laws and coach employees on safe work practices

Recommend actions related to safety compliance ensuring continued compliance.

Communicate safety policies and procedures to company employees.

Train all levels of employees in a variety of settings and evaluate their performance.

Assist with accident and near-miss incident investigations.

Monitor and report on subcontractor safety performance

Monitor safety equipment and assist with allocation of safety equipment and supplies.

These duties and responsibilities are not all-inclusive and may change to meet the priorities and ongoing needs of the company.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience managing Electrical Construction Safety or ten (10) years of electrical experience
• OSHA 30 is preferred; OSHA Training Certification or willingness to obtain is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent Organization and Time Management skill sets.
• Excellent record keeper.
• Ability to professionally and effectively handle difficult conversations and develop solutions.
• Proficient with Microsoft office (Outlook, Calendar, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet company’s driving record requirements to operate a company vehicle.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with supervisors and subordinates.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, lift and carry up to 60 pounds, crawl, kneel, push and reach; and must have hand dexterity and strength to operate hand and power tools and to operate company motorized equipment and vehilces.

The employee must be capable of wearing safety clothing and equipment including, but not limited to hard hat, work gloves, safety glasses/goggles, respirator, safety belt and hard toe footwear.

Work Environment

In performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
