About the Job

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Revenue Audit, the Auditor I – Tribal Finance conducts audits of hospitality revenue, verifies transactions and cash deposits, and prepares daily revenue reports. This role summarizes findings, provides preliminary recommendations, and compiles formal audit reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily audit analysis to assess risk and identify potential fraudulent activity or trends across various operational functions. Ensures compliance with the Gaming Commission’s Tribal Gaming Minimum Internal Controls (TICS) and the Gaming Commission Regulations (GCR) by reviewing transaction documents related to designated audit areas, including but not limited to Food & Beverage, Hotel, Cage, Key Control, Table Games, Tickets, Comps, and other areas as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Plans, executes, and evaluates operational audits to identify risks within the casino gaming organization. Prepares and reviews financial reports specific to the audit areas in accordance with policy and procedures. Investigates and reports any discrepancies found in the audit on exception reports to the affiliated department management and executives.
  • Reviews, corrects, compiles, and verifies highly confidential records submitted from casino operations departments for accuracy and compliance to approved policies and procedures of the accounting department as it pertains to the recording of these transactions.
  • Communicates effectively through well-developed written and verbal skills, fostering collaboration with various departments, management, and executives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education, Experience And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working in an analytical or Casino environment is preferred.
  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (ksa)

  • Familiarity of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), National Indian Gaming Commission Minimum Internal Controls (MICS), the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO).
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must not have any direct relatives associated in the functioning of gaming operations and/or gaming activities.
  • Experience demonstrating the utmost discretion and confidentiality as they will have access to private information such as Social Security Numbers, credit cards, personal data or financial data from colleagues, personnel or customers.
  • Ability to employ a proactive approach to problem solving and overall execution of job responsibilities preferred. Ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from internal and external customers.
  • Possesses and exercises strong analytical skills and abilities when performing audits.
  • Ability to use data extraction and data analysis techniques in MS Excel to support audits and sampling within the department.
  • Must possess intermediate computer skills and intermediate user level proficiency in all Microsoft Office Applications, with emphasis on Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management.
  • Ability to communicate one-on-one and to groups to explain policies, procedures, and processes to maintain understanding and communication of a specific opinion or action.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • Driving Responsibilities: Role requires regular commuting between locations. A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required. Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.

Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions – Environment

The physical demands and working environment described here are representative of those that an employee encounters and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle during travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
