S Thomas Construction, LLC is seeking a detail-driven and experienced Sitework Estimator to join our team in Houston, TX. In this vital role, you will manage the full estimating cycle from quantity take-offs to bid submissions on heavy civil construction projects, particularly in underground utilities and earthwork. Key Responsibilities

• Bid Preparation: Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and site conditions to prepare accurate, competitive bids.
• Take-Offs: Complete detailed quantity take-offs for water, sewer, and storm drainage.
• Vendor Engagement: Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers for all scopes.
• Estimating: Use software like HCSS HeavyBid, PlanSwift, or Bluebeam to compile estimates; develop cost breakdowns for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Collaboration: Coordinate with field teams and senior estimators to ensure bid accuracy and execution feasibility.
• Bid Support: Attend pre-bid meetings, field site visits, and contribute to RFIs, value engineering proposals, and post-bid reviews.
• Project Handoff: Support the smooth transition from estimation to project management, ensuring scope clarity and budget alignment.
• Database Management: Maintain pricing databases and subcontractor/vendor lists.
  
  

Qualifications

• 4-5+ years of underground utility and civil estimating experience (Houston area preferred)
• Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar estimating tools
• Expertise in reading blueprints, take-offs, and cost analysis
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills for bid modeling and analysis
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills
• Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, solutions-driven attitude
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
