Mechanical Project Engineer
This position will provide Project Engineering support for the Cloquet Mill. Main duties include engineering and managing capital projects from scoping through successful start-up. Work will consist of managing designers, vendors, consultants, and contractors as required to complete projects in a safe, cost competitive, and timely manner. Occasional maintenance technical support will also be required.

Responsibilities
- Manage capital projects through all phases including pre-feasibility study, conceptual design, execution planning, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, optimization, and close-out.
- Develop scope of work, schedules, and estimates for capital projects as required for budgeting
- Provide technical engineering and project management oversight for the design, installation, and maintenance of plant systems.
- Assist with troubleshooting related to operations and maintenance
- Work within multiple project timelines
- Make safety a priority in all aspects of the job – from personal safety, managing vendors and contractors, and ensuring project are installed and implemented with proper safety reviews and considerations.
- A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years' related experience; industrial project management experience is preferred.
- Experience in applying leadership and team skills.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project), SAP, and AutoCAD
- Experience with problem solving and decision-making techniques (ie. Kepner Tregoe, six Sigma, etc)
- Perform root cause analysis and work with operations and maintenance to resolve repetitive issues and increase quality and productivity
- Proficiency in the development and management of long-term plans and budgets, project management, and the reconciliation of actual expenditures to budget
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required.
- Mechanical Engineer: piping design, process design, HVAC, ASME, and maintenance
