The ESG Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and improving Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programs throughout the organization. This position ensures compliance with corporate sustainability objectives, customer requirements, regulatory obligations, and internationally recognized ESG standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Environmental

  • Manage environmental compliance programs.
  • Track energy, water, natural gas, and electricity consumption.
  • Monitor greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2).
  • Develop waste reduction and recycling initiatives.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste reporting.
  • Support ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Assist with ISO 50001 Energy Management initiatives.
  • Coordinate air permit, wastewater, and stormwater compliance.
  • Prepare environmental performance reports.
  • Conduct environmental audits and inspections.

Social

  • Coordinate sustainability and employee engagement programs.
  • Support health and safety initiatives alongside the EHS team.
  • Track employee training metrics.
  • Assist with community outreach and volunteer programs.
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
  • Monitor employee wellness programs.
  • Assist with customer social responsibility audits.
  • Support human rights and responsible sourcing programs.

Governance

  • Prepare annual ESG reports.
  • Monitor ESG Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain ESG documentation and records.
  • Coordinate customer sustainability questionnaires.
  • Support ESG risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with customer sustainability requirements.
  • Support supplier ESG evaluations.
  • Track corrective actions resulting from ESG audits.
  • Maintain policies related to ethics, anti-corruption, and responsible business conduct.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze ESG performance data.
  • Maintain ESG dashboards.
  • Develop sustainability objectives.
  • Monitor carbon reduction initiatives.
  • Coordinate waste reduction projects.
  • Improve recycling performance.
  • Assist with supplier sustainability evaluations.
  • Support third-party ESG audits.
  • Benchmark ESG performance against industry standards.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in:
    • Environmental Science
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Sustainability
    • Occupational Safety
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Business Sustainability
    • Related field
Experience

  • 3–5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with ESG reporting.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 preferred.
  • Experience with ISO 50001 preferred.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.

Manufacturing Focus

For an automotive supplier such as WorldWise Plastics (WWP), the ESG Specialist would also be responsible for tracking energy consumption, water use, VOC emissions, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, PFAS initiatives, carbon footprint reduction, customer sustainability scorecards, supplier ESG compliance, and maintaining compliance with customer and regulatory sustainability requirements. This role works closely with EHS, Operations, Maintenance, Purchasing, Human Resources, and Quality to integrate sustainability into daily manufacturing operations.
