Working Requirements
The Supplier Quality Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for managing supplier quality activities to ensure supplied components and services meet quality, technical, and business requirements. This role partners closely with suppliers, engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to drive supplier performance, resolve quality issues, support product qualifications, and ensure manufacturing capability throughout the supply chain.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in supplier quality management, manufacturing processes, supplier development, and root cause analysis, particularly within complex manufacturing environments involving machining, welding, and critical components.

The Supplier Quality Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for managing supplier quality activities to ensure supplied components and services meet quality, technical, and business requirements. This role partners closely with suppliers, engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to drive supplier performance, resolve quality issues, support product qualifications, and ensure manufacturing capability throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities
Supplier Quality Management
- Implement supplier quality and supplier quality management (SQM) strategies to improve supplier performance, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain supplier quality requirements, specifications, and quality assurance agreements.
- Support supplier qualification and approval processes in accordance with company standards and quality requirements.
- Lead supplier development activities to enhance manufacturing capability and quality performance.
- Lead Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) activities at supplier facilities.
- Coordinate supplier readiness and qualification activities for new and existing products.
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes and capabilities to ensure compliance with product requirements.
- Support design and manufacturing teams to ensure products are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
- Manage supplier non-conformance issues affecting manufacturing facilities, warehouses, or customers.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective action activities using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive sustainable resolution of supplier quality concerns and prevent recurrence.
- Plan, conduct, and lead supplier audits, including quality system, process, and capability assessments.
- Ensure suppliers maintain compliance with applicable quality management system requirements, including ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
- Monitor audit findings and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Investigate manufacturing capability issues and support business continuity efforts.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure supplier compliance.
- Assess inspection methods and manufacturing processes to ensure product quality and process capability.
- Provide technical support related to machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly processes.
- Identify and implement process improvements across supplier quality and manufacturing operations.
- Support Lean, digitalization, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, and Operations teams to improve supplier performance and reduce costs.
- Bachelor s degree or technical education in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, or Supplier Quality Management.
- Experience working in a complex manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly.
- Experience leading supplier audits, supplier qualifications, and supplier development initiatives.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), including ISO 9001.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Experience managing supplier non-conformances and corrective action programs.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and investigations simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% to supplier locations.
- Experience within Aerospace, Defense, Energy, Power Generation, Turbine, or Heavy Manufacturing industries.
- Experience with critical components such as shafts, discs, precision-machined parts, and complex assemblies.
- Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies, including:
- 8D
- 5 Why Analysis
- Ishikawa (Fishbone)
- Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)
- Experience with Product and Process Qualification (PPQ), PPAP, or First Article Inspection (FAI).
- SAP experience.
