SimVentions — consistently rated one of Virginia’s Best Places to Work — is hiring a Cybersecurity Engineer III to support system hardening, vulnerability assessments, and compliance work across DoD environments. You’ll work closely with Blue Teams, Red Teams, and other cybersecurity specialists to strengthen cyber readiness and support system accreditation under DoD frameworks.

What you’ll do

• Develop and maintain full A&A packages (SSP, AB diagrams, PIA, e-Auth, implementation plans, continuous monitoring plans, etc.)
• Conduct FISMA assessments and ongoing monitoring of authorized systems
• Perform ACAS scanning, STIG implementation, SCAP checks, and IAVM reviews
• Analyze vulnerability and STIG results, documenting findings in POA&M
• Support both Windows and Linux environments across DoD networks
• Write and update test plans using tools like ACAS, Tenable Nessus, and DISA STIG benchmarks
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and engineering teams to drive compliance and improve security posture

What you’ll need

• Active Secret clearance (IT Level II Tier 5)
• Strong knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies and system specifications
• Experience supporting Linux and Windows systems in secure environments
• One of the following IAT Level III certifications: CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP/Associate, GCED, GCIH, CCSP
• Ability to communicate clearly and produce high-quality security documentation
• Hands-on experience with ACAS, STIGs, SCAP, and vulnerability remediation

Nice to have

• 10+ years combined experience across RMF, boundary defense, IDS/IPS, firewalls, cross-domain solutions, EMASS, ESS
• Experience with National Cyber Range Complex (NCRC) environments
• Strong background in vulnerability remediation across Linux and Windows
• BS in IS, IT, CS, or Computer Engineering
