Lakeside Book Company is looking for a Senior Human Resources Manager to lead people strategy and culture at our two Harrisonburg, VA facilities, supporting approximately 1,000 employees and overseeing a dedicated team of HR professionals.

As a key member of our leadership team, you’ll report to the VP of HR with a dotted line to the Site VP, Manufacturing. You’ll collaborate closely with leaders across the business to implement meaningful change and elevate every aspect of the employee experience.

What You’ll Do:
As a key member of our leadership team, you’ll report to the VP of HR with a dotted line to the Site VP, Manufacturing. You’ll collaborate closely with leaders across the business to implement meaningful change and elevate every aspect of the employee experience.
Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll lead:
- Partner with plant leadership to align HR strategy with business objectives
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of 8–10 HR professionals
- Drive initiatives in talent development, organizational effectiveness, and succession planning
- Modernize HR systems and processes, ensuring seamless, people-centered change management
- Champion employee engagement and retention strategies to build an exceptional workplace
- Guide performance management, compensation, workforce planning, and recruiting strategies
- Coach leaders at all levels to elevate leadership capabilities and drive accountability
- Be a culture carrier—strengthen communication, morale, and workplace culture
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and wants to make a real difference in how a business operates and grows.
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 7+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
- 7+ years in a manufacturing environment
- 2+ years overseeing multiple sites or large-scale teams (400+ employees)
- Proven experience leading major organizational or cultural transformation
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement processes is a plus
- SHRM or HRCI certification preferred
