Basic Function
The Commercial Banking Internship provides college students with full access to the Commercial Banking industry and insight into the various career opportunities the industry has to offer. The intern would be exposed to all aspects of Commercial Banking, including a focus on credit analysis and loan portfolio administration. At the conclusion of the internship, a successful intern would have marketable skills and experience that would make them quality candidates for full-time commercial banking positions, including Hickory Point Bank’s Commercial Banking Officer Development Program.
Essential Job Duties
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
The intern should be a current sophomore, junior, or senior in college with an academic focus or background in accounting and/or finance preferred, with a minimum GPA of 3.00 required (3.50+ preferred). The intern must also be detailed oriented, have the ability to multi-task and prioritize, have a general understanding of financial statements, and have a basic understanding of computer functions including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
Training And Experience
Prior experience and training is not necessary for the intern; however, current enrollment in college is required.
This opportunity is open to students in our Champaign, Decatur, or Springfield markets, with work performed at a local office. The dates of the internship are flexible, with the potential for extension depending on performance and organizational needs.
This position will be part time during the school year and may be full-time during summers. Hours for this role will be dependent on school schedules and deadlines. The position is non-exempt.
The successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, consumer credit check and background check is required.

- Analyze financial statements and supporting documentation to evaluate borrower financial condition.
- Prepare comprehensive credit analyses to assist client relationship managers.
- Compile and deliver reports for senior management.
- Assist other Commercial Banking team members with special projects.
