Volunteers use their expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to shape fun and enriching leadership experiences for girls, and inspire them to reach their personal best. Volunteers help council staff facilitate the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls through exciting program opportunities leadership/self-esteem, financial literacy, travel, health/wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math. Volunteers choose from several flexible Pathways (the ways that girls and adults join Girl Scouting) that fit their lifestyles, including short-term or long-term service working either directly or indirectly with girls, and they can participate regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Responsibilities
- Recruit girls and adults who represent the diversity of the population in the assigned area through community recruitment events and other promotional opportunities.
- Submit all contact information collected through recruitment efforts online via Volunteer Systems.
- Inform Service Unit Registrar when new troop numbers need to be requested from Council.
- Assist volunteers with securing troop meeting locations.
- Organize and place girls and adults into new and existing troops using Volunteer Systems. Provide support to new leaders.
- Work with Service Unit Registrar to identify girl and adult openings in existing troops.
- Organize local recruitment events. Request and collect Recruitment Kit(s) from Council Service Centers.
- Support and promote the Girl Scout leadership experience.
- Participate as an active member of the Service Unit Team by attending regular Service Unit Team leader meetings and participating in the creation of the annual Service Unit Recruitment Plan.
- Implement Service Unit recruitment plan and request materials and support as needed.
- Communicate recruitment progress to Service Unit Team and GSCSNJ staff members.
- Maintain positive work relationships with Service Unit Team members, parents, and leaders.
