What You'll Do

We're thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity to join the Viasat Government People & Culture (P&C) team as a Director, Talent Acquisition. This position can be located at any of our US locations or remotely within the US.

The Director, Talent Acquisition is a business-aligned leader responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive recruitment strategy that supports Viasat Government’s (VGOV’s) mission, growth, and operational excellence. This role oversees all aspects of employment strategy, including, sourcing, candidate experience, compliance, and labor market intelligence. Operating in a highly regulated defense environment, the Director ensures VGOV attracts and hires top talent across cleared and non-cleared roles while maintaining a strong employer brand and delivering a seamless hiring experience.

This leader partners closely with business units, P&C Business Partners, and executive stakeholders to ensure staffing solutions are responsive to evolving business needs and external market conditions. They lead a team of Talent Advisors and manage vendor relationships, systems, and analytics to drive performance and accountability across the function.

The day-to-day

Talent Acquisition Strategy & Business Alignment

  • Develop and implement scalable sourcing strategies for cleared and non-cleared roles
  • Partner with business leaders to forecast hiring needs and align recruitment plans to workforce strategy
  • Provide labor market insights and competitive intelligence to inform hiring decisions
  • Ensure recruitment practices support business continuity, compliance, and inclusive goals


Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Oversee ATS optimization, recruitment analytics, and vendor management
  • Ensure hiring practices meet defense industry standards, labor regulations, and internal governance
  • Manage employment branding, recruitment marketing, and candidate experience initiatives
  • Maintain consistent corporate image across all recruiting channels and campaigns


Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of Talent Advisors
  • Collaborate with P&C BPs, P&C leaders, and business stakeholders to deliver integrated staffing solutions
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on employment matters, including affirmative action and compliance reporting
  • Mentor emerging leaders and contribute to shaping VGOV’s talent narrative


Data & Reporting

  • Monitor hiring trends, turnover rates, and candidate feedback to inform strategy
  • Deliver regular reports and insights to HR leadership and senior management
  • Use data to assess recruitment effectiveness and drive continuous improvement


What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in talent acquisition or staffing
  • Proven success in managing recruitment for complex, regulated environments
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience with cleared hiring, government contracting, or defense industry preferred

Salary range

$187,000.00 - $295,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $232,000.00- $348,000.00/ annually

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
