The Learning and Development Specialist will play a vital role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of Metro employees through content and training creation, along with the facilitation of training. The L&D Specialist will create, edit and maintain clear and accurate content that instills Metro’s core values. This role requires a creative individual with strong communication, written and analytical skills and will need a passion for fostering employee development.
Responsibilities
Create clear, accurate, and user-friendly content for our internal knowledge base.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, team members, and cross-functional partners to gather, validate, and enhance content.
Translate complex technical or operational information into concise, accessible language.
Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines, tone, and compliance standards.
Implement feedback from agents, leadership, and quality teams to continuously improve content and usability.
Design, develop, and deliver training for new hires and tenured agents on product launches, system changes, policy updates, and ongoing skill development.
Develop measurable learning objectives and assessments to evaluate training effectiveness.
Use diverse instructional methods and adult learning principles to create impactful learning experiences.
Manage logistics, scheduling, communication, and reporting for learning programs.
Oversee a portfolio of training initiatives, ensuring consistent quality and alignment with business goals.
Assist with administrative tasks such as tracking attendance, scores, and feedback.
Stay current on industry trends, tools and best practices in learning, development, and operational effectiveness.
Book travel associated with training.
Requirements
5 years experience in training, facilitation and coaching.
Experience with instructional design and curriculum development.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Previous management experience a plus.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Comfortable speaking with small and large groups.
Ability to provide thoughtful feedback.
Background in construction or skilled trade environment a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft office tools – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
