SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs routine member transactions, including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, and check cashing. Researches and submits forms for members. In this role, you will need to educate members on products and services, meet referral goals, and follow regulatory requirements.

SALARY RANGE: 4 – Non-Exempt

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform basic transactions in branch for members, including but not limited to cash deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check negotiating, loan payments and advances. Ensuring that the members’ transaction requests are completed accurately.
  • Examine checks for endorsements and negotiability, ensuring that checks are within policy standards. Obtaining supervisor approval for any checks or cash transactions that are over your limit. Placing appropriate holds on checks and explaining to hold reasons and length to members.
  • Issuing Cashier’s Checks and Money Orders for members, processing Cash Advances, Coin Machine tickets, and other General Ledger Transactions. Gathering wiring instructions, and processing form to be reviewed and submitted.
  • Submitting necessary forms for members by researching information and gathering documentation with accuracy.
  • Process requests for member maintenance, including but not limited to account closures, contact information updates, setting up scheduled disbursement, closing and issuing debit cards, and ordering personal checks.
  • Assisting members with basic requests such as online banking password resets, account research, and check copies.
  • Educate members on credit union products and services to empower members to make better financial decisions.
  • Respond to members' requests, issues and complaints, and/or direct them to the proper person for information and assistance.
  • Monitor and balance the cash and checks you have taken daily, complete a balancing sheet, and research outages in a timely manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all credit union policies and procedures.
  • Monitor for and identify Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) transactions and obtain required items of information to complete filing of Currency Transaction Report (CTR). Watch for structuring of account transactions and alert supervisor to any activity that might require completion of Suspicious Activity Report (SAR).
  • Complete mandatory BSA compliance training annually.
  • Achieve department referral goals as assigned by management.
  • Perform any special project or duties that fall within member services department as assigned by management.

Required Knowledge

Requires basic reading, writing, math, attention to detail, computer skills, communication skills and the ability to work effectively and cohesively with staff and members.

The role frequently requires the use of hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.

Employees may be required to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or balance. The position also involves reaching with hands and arms and lifting or moving items such as bags of coins or other materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, particularly when working on a computer. Regular, predictable attendance is essential.

The role requires the ability to work in a confined space and the capacity to sit or stand at a workstation or teller window for extended periods.
