Responsibilities
- Complete work orders and daily tasks as assigned
- Diagnosis and repair faulty equipment.
- Perform work in the mechanic shop and in the field as needed on vehicles
- Maintain and repair engines, ignition systems, braking systems, cooling systems, steering and suspension systems, drive train and various other subassemblies.
- Maintain fleet inspection
- Install and maintain specialized equipment such as warning lights, misc. public safety equipment, attachments and two‐way communications systems.
- Safely operate tools and equipment in compliance with all federal OSHA, state, and local safety requirements
- Research replacement parts and material needs for the purpose of obtaining quotes and or for upgrading equipment/fleet when directed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification from a technical school or completion of an apprenticeship is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a vehicle mechanic, with experience working on a variety of vehicle types.
- Strong understanding of automotive systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools specific to vehicle repair.
- Ability to read and interpret vehicle manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, work in tight spaces, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
