Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to lead and support the development, integration, and sustainment of ground-based systems for radar and space communications. You will play a critical role in the architecture, design, implementation, and operations of ground station infrastructure supporting mission-critical applications. You will be regularly tasked to provide technical guidance on the project as well as the technical customer interface. You will be intimately involved with the 0engineering and operation teams during the design and the integration phase of the ground-based system, to ensure schedule and build compliances are met.

This role performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Define and manage system requirements and interfaces for ground station infrastructure, including antennas, RF systems, modems, and network elements.
  • Support the full systems engineering lifecycle, including, design trade studies, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Develop interface control documents (ICDs), systems specifications, and test plans.
  • Coordinate with hardware and software engineers, program management, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Troubleshoot system-level issues and support root cause analysis during integration and operations.
  • Assist in performing link budget analysis, RF chain evaluations, and data flow assessments.
  • Contribute to mission planning and ground system automation improvements.
  • Ensure ground systems meet operational, performance, reliability, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Lead the technical team on proposal efforts/JCBs/BOMs and compliance matrices
  • Project/Systems Engineering Lead – will ensure all technical teams are meeting system requirements and provide status to PMs on technical challenges/solutions.

Communication & Influence

Communicates with contacts within and outside of own department and may occasionally have responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.). Able to explain and interpret various processes and procedures to others within and outside the job area.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with 3 or more years of experience or 7 years of equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience in systems engineering for ground-based communication or space systems.
  • Understanding of RF systems, Mechanical Structures, and Control Systems.
  • Experience with ground station components (e.g., antennas, modems, RF converters, tracking systems).
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with SRRs, CDRs, PDRs, TRRs.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the year or less.
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Master’s degree in a technical field.
      • Experience with DoD or NASA ground systems and standards (e.g., CCSDS, MIL-STD).
      • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.
      • The ability to obtain a future Security Clearance is required for the role. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is 90,500-168,500k. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. Fisica Inc. also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), PTO, EAP, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, and schedule type.
