Job Summary:
UNFCU is a global not-for-profit financial institution that serves the UN community. They are seeking a BI Data Engineer to develop and maintain data-intensive applications, collaborate with team members to gather requirements, and deliver business intelligence solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Uphold UNFCU’s mission, core values, and guiding principles by providing an exceptional service experience to colleagues and members alike through consistent demonstration of our service excellence behaviors.
• Communicate well and work closely with team members including Analysts, Product Managers, and business users to gather requirements, troubleshoot, modify, and enhance existing Data assets.
• Develop backend applications in Database using TSQL/PLSQL in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database. Write complex code in stored procedures or PL SQL.
• Demonstrate strong exposure to relational databases technologies like Database, Data Warehouse, Data Lakes and Data Lake House.
• Troubleshoot to find root cause with data accuracy and/or performance related issues and find solutions to fix it by creating indexes, transaction isolation levels and optimizing code.
• Resolve database performance issues by looking at query plans, create appropriate indexes, resolve dead locks and create table hints.
• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain reports on SSRS and/or OBIEE.
• Evaluate, design, propose, and secure approval for all design and implementation.
• Work with multiple environments for development, testing, and deploying in production.
• Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
• Follow the organization’s data protection and network securities and antivirus policies.
• May need to demonstrate familiarity with dimensional models such as SSAS cube and tabular model.
• May need to demonstrate knowledge of some shell scripting language.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, and attend training, conferences and seminars according to organization’s business requirements.
• Participate in Credit Union training and development programs.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and UNFCU’s Code of Ethics & Business Conduct.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
• 6+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server
• 6+ years of experience in ETL tools like Microsoft SSIS
• 3 years software development experience on BI Platform like – SSRS, Power BI, TableaU
• Hands on experience using Microsoft SQL Server
• Data migration and Data warehousing with skills on issues that are complex and evaluative in nature where troubleshooting may call for referencing an advanced knowledge base
• Developing Business Intelligence Solutions by creating Dashboards and Reports
• Experience in the following areas: Data Migration from various systems to SQL Server Database, Building Data Marts using dimensional models is a plus, Oracle PL/SQL, Maintaining code/scripts in TFS for multiple environments, DBA activities like database backup and restore
• Strong analytical ability/problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment to complete assigned projects in a timely manner
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Able to multi-task, taking on several initiatives at once
Preferred:
• Knowledge of financial/banking industry
• Experience in working in environments with in various firewall layers
