Job Summary:
Riverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. They are seeking a full-time Software Test Engineer to support Government Acceptance Testing for mission-critical applications, responsible for executing test plans and identifying software defects.
Responsibilities:
• Execute GAT in accordance with approved test plans for applications with GUI, API-only, and hybrid interfaces.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders and third-party testers to interpret testing requirements and ensure comprehensive coverage.
• Identify, document, and triage software defects, providing detailed analysis and actionable remediation recommendations.
• Perform root cause analysis on identified issues, with emphasis on database-related functions.
• Coordinate resolution strategies with development teams to address identified defects.
• Provide technical guidance and expertise to the testing team to ensure software functionality meets acceptance criteria.
• Maintain thorough testing documentation to ensure traceability, compliance, and quality assurance.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Active TS clearance with SCI adjudication
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2+ years' experience with software testing methodologies, including GUI and API-based testing
• Familiarity with Agile development processes and related tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
• Strong database knowledge, including SQL and database troubleshooting techniques
• Understanding of defect tracking and root cause analysis processes
• Experience working in government or defense software development/testing environments
• Knowledge of security compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST RMF, STIGs) is a plus
Preferred:
• Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, math, or relevant field of study
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent Agile certification (e.g., PMI-ACP, SAFe)
• Familiarity with Department of Defense acquisition lifecycle, governance checkpoints, and processes (e.g., PPBE, Milestones A/B/C)
• Understanding of classified program environments and ability to work with sensitive or restricted information
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, including government, contractors, and developer personnel
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders and technical working groups
