About the Cline Center: The Cline Center for Advanced Social Research is dedicated to transforming raw data into actionable knowledge to address real-world challenges. We seek a skilled Communications Intern to enhance our communication strategies, manage our digital presence, and engage with our diverse audience.
Position Overview: The Communication Intern will be responsible for developing and
executing comprehensive communication strategies across multiple platforms, including the website, social media, and newsletters. This role will involve content creation, strategic planning, and audience engagement to effectively promote the Center’s mission and activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Management
- Manage and optimize social media accounts (LinkedIn, X, Bluesky) to align with the Center’s target audiences.
- Create and schedule consistent, individualized content for each platform.
- Analyze social media metrics to track engagement and adjust strategies as needed.
Newsletter Management
- Write a biannual newsletter on behalf of the Cline Center detailing key accomplishments and news.
- Compile and highlight media mentions, research updates, events, and grant activity.
Website Management
- Contribute to the content and updates on the Cline Center’s website, including news articles, research highlights, and event information.
- Regularly review website content for any potential issues.
Video Creation
- Collaborate with Cline Center employees to create promotional and instructional content.
- Script, film and edit videos as needed.
- Recommend and implement updates to improve website navigation, user experience, and SEO.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled at UIUC as an undergrad (sorry, we can’t hire graduate students for this position).
- Experience in social media management, preferably LinkedIn, X, and/or Bluesky.
- Experience in video production, including camera/microphone operation.
- Experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
