The full-time Information Technology (IT) Security Engineer will be Responsible for the maintenance and support of LSSI’s network infrastructure as it relates to security. This involves working with business stakeholders and ensuring the right solutions are in place to continuously and progressively improve the security posture of the network. This role will work closely with project managers, infrastructure, applications, service desk teams and ensure the right solutions and tools are in place to ensure a secure and reliable network in place.

Essential Functions

Work closely with the CIO to:

  • Establishing goals and objectives for the security program.
  • Establishing timelines for the goals and objectives.
  • Reporting the security metrics on a monthly basis.

Work Closely With The Applications And Infrastructure Teams And

  • Prioritize projects and tasks.
  • Communicate end-of-life and support issues; resolve and/or escalate issues as needed.
  • Inform of end of life and support issues.
  • Escalate as needed to resolve issues.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure adequate support exist on products. Ensure vendor delivers as promised.
  • Work with Project Managers to ensure Service Desk and end-users training material is updated.
  • Ensure network devices and network tools are up to date, maintained and supported.
  • Microsoft Purview or other Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft Purview solutions to ensure robust data governance, compliance, and security policies.
  • Data Compliance: Align security practices with regulatory requirements such as NIST, HITRUST and other data protection standards.
  • Real-Time Monitoring: Develop and manage dashboard and reports using Microsoft Purview or other DLP tools to monitor data activity, detect anomalies, and ensure risk mitigation.
  • Policy Configuration: Configure and fine-tune data classification, labeling, and protection policies for sensitive data within Microsoft Purview or other DLP tools.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other engineers and IT team to ensure Microsoft Purview or other DLP tools integrates seamlessly with existing systems, such as Microsoft 365 and Azure platforms.
  • Incident Response: Participate in investigations into data security incidents and recommend corrective measures using insights from Microsoft Purview or other DLP tools.
  • Training and Documentation: Develop and deliver training material for Microsoft Purview or other DLP tools and protocols.
  • Provide input into the IT Budget process for capital and operating expense. Ensure projects are within budget parameters.
  • Identify Key Performance Indicators for the solutions put in place.
  • Serve as a backup to existing security engineer to support and maintain other security solutions e.g., SIEM (Security Incident and Event Management), MTR (Managed Threat Response), NAC (Network Access Control), IAM (Identity and Access Management) etc.
  • Work on cybersecurity efforts and ensure all aspects are secured.
  • Work on the overall security program including HITRUST from a technical perspective by working closely with the CIO, project managers and rest of the Information Technology team.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or 10 years’ experience in IT with the last 5 years in infrastructure management specifically security related solutions.
  • Security related certifications required.
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, presentation, and pc/computer skills (including proficiency with Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) along with other related software.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience with Microsoft Purview or other DLP solution implementation, support and maintenance is required.
  • Excellent knowledge of network solutions e.g., WAN, LAN, MPLS, Ethernet, DNS etc. is required.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience with SIEM solutions is required.
  • Working knowledge of NIST, DOD or other security standards is required.
  • Working knowledge with Artificial Intelligence tools is required. e.g., Microsoft Copilot.
  • Experience with Fortinet product set is highly preferred and a plus.
  • Certificate management experience is preferred.
  • Experience navigating a security incident with a recovery team and cyber insurance is preferred.
  • Experience implementing, maintaining, and supporting a Network Access Control solution is preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience with endpoint security systems is preferred e.g., Sophos, InTune, SentinelOne etc.
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools or scripting for data governance tasks is preferred.
  • Experience working within non-profit organizations or environments is preferred and a plus.
  • Valid and current driver’s license required to be able to fulfil travel requirements in the State of Illinois.
  • Valid and current auto insurance should be maintained for vehicle used to travel.
