Director of Recreation

Job Summary:

The Recreation Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a comprehensive recreation program to meet the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of our residents. This role is critical to enhancing quality of life and promoting resident engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement monthly activity calendars, including individual and group programs
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth event logistics
• Lead and supervise activities such as games, arts and crafts, exercise classes, outings, music therapy, and special events
• Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and activity aides
• Assess resident interests and needs through initial and ongoing assessments
• Maintain documentation of resident participation and program outcomes
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Decorate and set up for events and seasonal themes
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation and feedback
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, or related field (preferred)
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a long-term care or senior living setting
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
• Knowledge of person-centered care principles
  
  
  

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
