Position Overview

The St. Louis Blues are seeking an innovative, strategic, and highly motivated Creative Director to help lead the video brand identity of our NHL franchise across all platforms including in-game, digital, and broadcast. This leadership role will shape the look and feel of the team’s storytelling, fan engagement, and marketing initiatives—from in-arena video content, episodic storytelling, game-day and digital content to advertising campaigns, merchandise branding, and community outreach.

As the Creative Director, you will manage a multidisciplinary team of designers, video producers, and content creators. You’ll collaborate closely with Marketing, Game Presentation, Digital, social media, Sponsorship, and Hockey Operations to deliver world-class creative that reflects the spirit of our team and energizes our fan base.

This is expected to be in-person with work from home flexibility in the off-season.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creative Leadership: Develop and lead the team’s video creative vision across all platforms—digital, social, broadcast, and in-arena.
  • Brand Stewardship: Ensure consistency in visual identity and tone across all fan touchpoints, maintaining and evolving the brand guidelines.
  • Team Management: Oversee and mentor a team of designers, video editors, and content creators. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
  • Hands On: Shoot, edit, and produce cutting edge content at a high level.
  • Campaign Development: Collaborate with marketing/branding leadership to concept and execute integrated campaigns that drive ticket sales, viewership, fan engagement, and sponsorship value.
  • Game-Day Content: Work closely with our Director of Game Presentation to lead the creation of in-arena visual content (motion graphics, hype videos, LED displays) to elevate the game-day experience.
  • Digital & Social Content: Work closely with our digital/social team to oversee the visual approach for social media and website video content.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders (ticketing, community relations, corporate partnerships, etc.) to deliver creative solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Production Oversight: Manage project software, timelines and budgets for all creative projects, ensuring high-quality, on-brand execution delivered on schedule.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in creative leadership roles, ideally in sports, entertainment, media, or a lifestyle brand.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of campaign, digital, motion design, and audio work.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire creative teams while also being hands-on when needed.
  • Expert knowledge of production workflow hardware from start to finish including cameras, audio, lighting, editing, and delivery. Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, motion graphics software (e.g., After Effects), and overall content production workflows.
  • Experience with sports marketing and an understanding of the NHL fan landscape is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Passion for hockey, sports culture, and storytelling.
