Position: Memory Care Specialist
Are you looking to be a part of a team that assists in providing therapeutic programs which meets each patient's "individual" needs while providing an atmosphere of FUN and ENJOYMENT and other duties as requested? The applicant must have a desire to work with seniors, be compassionate, caring, and creative. The ideal candidate must be creative, energetic, and have knowledge of the domains of wellness as it relates to programming in Memory Care. Your goal would be to provide daily meaningful activities that enhance the quality of life for our residents.

Summary
The Memory Care Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, and overseeing the programs and services of the memory care unit. The goals of the memory care program are to fulfill the basic psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs while promoting quality of life in a nurturing environment. The Memory Care Specialist leads a stimulating activity program throughout the day and evening and is actively involved and engaged in designing the activity calendar and programming.

Qualifications
- Experience working with Alzheimer’s and Dementia in a residential setting a must.
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
- A self-motivated, creative and positive personality.
- Ability to work with partners, residents, family members and the community.
- Possess patience, good organization skills, assertiveness and be a conscientious person.
- Present a professional appearance.
- Be flexible in working hours so that weekend or evening events may be provided.
- Ability to supervisor others in a firm, fair, and consistent manner.
- Able to lift 30 pounds occasionally.
- Able to be on feet 5-7 hours a day.
- Be able to move throughout the building without assistance.
- Monitor the overall function of the memory care unit to assure all resident and family needs are being addressed.
- Develop and implement Dementia Program via The Mindful Way program.
- Coordinate internal and external events with Community Relations Director.
- Ensure TN state regulations are followed in MC.
- Develop monthly activity calendar; carry out therapeutic activities, which meet the individual interests and needs of each resident.
- Encourage partner participation in activities.
- Assess each resident to determine interests and needs through assessment.
- Implement the live-to-thrive program; encourage resident participation in activities of interest.
- Provide input into resident care plans. Participate in care plan review meetings with resident,
- Train MC staff concerning The Mindful Way program.
- Participate in the hiring, training and terminating of MC staff.
- Contact resident’s family as needed
- Ensure resident assistance with activities of daily living according to care plan.
