The Associated Students of CSU, Chico is recruiting for Event and Outreach Manager. This is a full-time, full-year (2080 hours), non-exempt position. The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr; placement in range is dependent upon experience with new hires typically starting at the base of the range. The anticipated schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, though it is also dependent on events therefore it will on occasion include nights and weekends. The schedule is subject to change based on operational needs.

The Associated Students (AS) is a comprehensive campus auxiliary corporation of CSU,Chico serving thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members through myriad student programs, services and business enterprises. With an annual budget of more than $21M, the AS operates residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union, the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC), and administers the contract for the Wildcat Store (bookstore). Additionally, the AS offers a wide variety of services and programs such as: CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), Child Development Lab, Adventure Outings, Recycling, Sustainability and student government. Typically, the AS employs more than 100 full and part-time employees and more than 400 students.

EVENT AND OUTREACH MANAGER
Summary:
This is a management position with overall responsibility for the general oversight and administration of the events and outreach team. Under general direction, the manager oversees overall operations of Associated Students centralized and individual events. This includes events budgets, planning, collaboration, organizing, directing, communication, supervising and evaluation of student programs. Certain duties and assignments are fluid and are periodically reviewed and revised based on program needs, program philosophy and staff development.
Essential Functions:
Management & Administration
- Manages the day-to-day functions of the events and outreach team. Oversees the recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of career and student staff.
- Manages event budgets. Ensure timely payment of contractors including vendors and talent. This includes bi-monthly timesheet approval for career and student staff.
- Responsible for the compilation and reporting of student engagement, feedback and participation in AS events including annual presentation of program highlights.
- Oversees analysis of program data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to guide continuous improvement, inform decision-making, and support strategic goals.
- Organizes and facilitates interdepartmental committees for event campaigns to implement diverse, large-scale, and dynamic campaigns on behalf of the Associated Students.
- Develops, manages, and maintains procedures related to centralized events and programming, including a centralized programming calendar and project management tools.
- Attends program meetings and events, assisting with on-site production of campus and AS events as needed.
- Meets regularly with AS Conference Services, AS programmers, campus stakeholders, operations, and student staff to ensure effective coordination and scheduling of events.
Event Coordination & Vendor/Talent Management
- Oversee and coordinate all event planning, logistics, and staffing for team-hosted and partnered events. Create experiences on behalf of the Associated Students that highlight AS values and programs.
- Manage student-led events to minimize risk as well as ensure quality of content and representation of the Associated Students mission and values.
- Analyzes program effectiveness and develops methods to ensure all events, outreach efforts, communications, trainings, and programs are high quality, well attended, student-centered experiences and meet AS branding standards.
- Collaborates with the marketing team to support advertising and publicity efforts for campaigns and events.
- Supports the coordination of campus-wide and collaborative events on behalf of the Associated Students and leads program involvement to highlight Associated Students (Choose Chico, Wildcat Preview Day, etc.)
- Evaluates events, activities, and program-related risks. Works with the Risk Manager to ensure appropriate insurance coverage and security is in place as required. Ensures compliance with University policies and procedures and coordination with University Public Events, Facilities Reservations and Risk Management.
- Researches and recommends program ideas. Negotiates with talent/agents. Reviews and prepares contracts in coordination with AS Risk Manager.
General Duties
- Develops and maintains effective working and collaborative relationships with the campus community, all areas within the Associated Students, outside venders and general public.
- Campus Security Authority: This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act and is required to comply with the requirements of this designation. Training is required and will be provided.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Typical Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office and student union building environment; some work is conducted in an outdoor environment with exposure to wide variations in temperature and weather conditions; continuous contact with staff, campus community, and public. Days and hours of work depend on programming and may include nights and weekends as required by event scheduling.
Physical Requirements:
Stand and walk for extended periods, manual dexterity for use with standard office equipment and eye-hand coordination; verbal and written communication.

- At all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Three (3) years of full-time experience in event coordination, student activities, outreach, or a related area, preferably in a higher education or student-facing setting. One (1) year may be substituted with a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Development, Educational Leadership, Recreation Administration or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of full-time experience in supervising staff.

Bachelor’s degree
Special Requirements:
- Possession of or ability to obtain a current and valid California Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Associated Students will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals any disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
