Job Overview

Strocchia Iron Works is hiring a skilled Steel Fab Shop Foreman to lead daily operations in our Bridgeport, CT fabrication facility. This full-time, onsite position oversees a team of 8-12 steel mechanics, welders, and layout professionals, ensuring all projects are fabricated efficiently, accurately, and safely. If you are a seasoned steel fabrication expert with strong leadership skills, bilingual communication abilities (English/Spanish), and a passion for precision and productivity—we want to meet you.

Our fabrication shop in Bridgeport supports field operations, working closely with our project teams to meet demanding construction schedules. Key Responsibilities

• Open and close the fabrication shop daily, ensuring readiness and security.
• Assign tasks to steelworkers, welders, and layout staff based on project priorities.
• Manage the flow of work through the shop with clear scheduling and timelines.
• Oversee the accuracy, quality, and compliance of all fabricated components.
• Maintain and track shipping and receiving operations for all materials and finished goods.
• Manage shop inventory, supplies, and consumables; place replenishment orders as needed.
• Maintain logs for all company trucks, machinery, and equipment; schedule maintenance.
• Lead weekly safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
• Coordinate with project managers to support timely deliveries and fabrication needs.
• Foster a positive, accountable, and productive team culture on the shop floor.
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in steel fabrication, welding, and layout.
• Demonstrated experience managing or supervising a fabrication team.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Organized, proactive, and quality-focused.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Familiarity with OSHA requirements and shop safety protocols.
• A high level of integrity, commitment, and reliability is essential.
• Local candidates preferred or willing to relocate to within 30 minutes of Bridgeport, CT.
