Job Overview

Wagner Construction Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Field Service Mechanic to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy construction equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring all machinery operates in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company standards, and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background with expertise in hydraulic, electrical, and air systems and the ability to work independently in various field locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair heavy construction equipment, including excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, and trucks.
• Document repairs and preventive maintenance in the fleet database.
• Purchase necessary parts and supplies to complete repairs.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to equipment operators.
• Maintain shop facilities and adhere to all safety regulations.
  
  

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform skilled mechanical repair work and complete overhauls on heavy equipment.
• Read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, and air schematics.
• Travel to field project locations to provide on-site maintenance and technical support.
• Monitor preventive maintenance schedules for vehicles and equipment.
• Identify and manage warranty issues, coordinating with manufacturers and the Equipment Manager.
  
  

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (Class B CDL preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Strong ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
• Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions in heavy equipment maintenance.
  
  

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

• Work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, standing, and reaching.
• Use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
• Work around vehicles, heavy machinery, and moving equipment.
• Exposure to diesel fuel, exhaust fumes, loud noise, and harsh weather conditions.
