The Role

Hartzell seeks a Senior Accountant to support the finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for General Ledger management and day to day debits and credits. This role is a transactional level accountant and is responsible for oversight and back up for Accounts Receivals and Accounts Payable. The accountant should be a system expert ensuring transactional integrity and managing the GL rules. In addition, the Accountant will provide annual audit support. The ideal candidate will possess critical thinking skills, a strong willingness to learn, resilience in challenging situations, and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities. Exposure to SOX compliance would be a plus. The Accountant will collaborate closely with site personnel to ensure the timely, accurate and relevant financial analysis and reporting.

Requirements

Key Deliverables

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger and confirm that GL accounts are recorded promptly and accurately in accordance with internal accounting policies.
  • Perform analysis on variances, understand drivers and communicate / share information with management
  • Serve as a system expert, ensuring transactional integrity within financial software and tools.
  • Apply expertise in SOX compliance and ensure that financial processes are in line with standards.
  • Process Improvement
  • Drive initiatives for cost-cutting, continuous improvement and streamlining initiatives

Required Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 2-5 years of experience.

Required Technical Competencies

  • Exposure and Strength in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of creating and reviewing journal entries for accuracy
  • Cost accounting and standard costing
  • Internal controls and auditing
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable Management
  • Proficient Computer Skills – MS Office
  • Advanced Excel Functions
  • Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP’s, etc.
  • ERP or similar business systems exposure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to synthesize financial issues for communication to a non-financial audience.
