Education And Work Experience
- Four-year Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance or comparable years of similar work experience.
- Two semesters of accounting required.
- 1-3 years commercial credit analysis experience in a financial institution preferred.
- Experience with computer operating systems (Windows).
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Credit Management software experience preferred.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong time management and multitasking skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, to include the ability to form and maintain client and business relationships.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Compliance with both the letter and spirit of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the Bank’s policies with the procedures relating to the Act. The employee will participate in training regarding BSA at least annually.
- Discretion and dedication to protecting the financial privacy of the client, business partners and employer.
- Obtain and analyze all necessary financial data to evaluate risk using credit analysis software.
- Perform assigned credit risk activities under the guidance of the Chief Credit Officer including underwriting and origination, loan renewals, annual reviews, and portfolio monitoring.
- Exercise independent judgement while developing understanding of function, policies, procedures and compliance requirements.
- Participate in meetings with customers/prospects and Business Bankers to gather and analyze information relating to credit requests.
- Analyze data to verify information and uncover fraud.
- Interact with credit administration, external auditors, Business Bankers, treasury management and wealth management, when necessary, for loan maintenance and/or troubleshooting.
- Interpret loan/legal documents and ensuring perfection of Bank’s security interest follows regulatory and legal requirements.
- Prepare and monitor loan administration reports.
- Interpret and apply loan policy guidelines when underwriting commercial and agricultural loans.
- Review and monitor files for documentation and maximize credit quality and minimize risk and potential loss.
- Prepare loan presentations for Business Bankers and committee(s) for lending consideration.
