Summary
Crew Leader II, under the general supervision of the Parks Maintenance Foreman, leads a team in the removal and trimming of trees, as well as storm-related cleanup activities throughout City parks and trails. This position requires participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours and emergency responses. The Crew Leader II also supports operational goals by performing inspections and coordinating with the public and City staff as needed.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Summary
Crew Leader II, under the general supervision of the Parks Maintenance Foreman, leads a team in the removal and trimming of trees, as well as storm-related cleanup activities throughout City parks and trails. This position requires participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours and emergency responses. The Crew Leader II also supports operational goals by performing inspections and coordinating with the public and City staff as needed.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Leads and supervises a crew in tree trimming and removal in parks and along trails throughout City
- Chips limbs and brush or loads vegetation onto trucks for proper disposal
- Conducts field inspections of trees in parks and along trails to assess tree health and ensure public safety
- Identifies vegetation requiring maintenance and communicates with the public regarding necessary trimming or removal
- Provides regular updates to the Foreman regarding work progress and challenges
- Responds to public concerns and follows up to ensure resolution
- Operates heavy equipment including brush trucks, bucket trucks, backhoes, and dump trucks
- Responds to emergency situations by clearing streets and mitigating hazards
- Assists other departmental crews with tasks and projects as assigned
- Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience in landscaping, horticultural services, or related area
- One (1) year of experience in a supervisory or lead role
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid Class B CDL with endorsements or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment
