As a Mechanical Design Engineer on the Service Tooling team, you will conceptualize, design, and implement innovative tooling solutions critical for maintaining and repairing Tesla's advanced vehicle fleet, including the pioneering Robotaxi and Optimus. What You'll Do
Lead the design and development of groundbreaking service equipment, specialized tools, and integrated systems for all Tesla products, from concept to deployment Collaborate closely with diverse engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to define tooling requirements that enhance technician efficiency and customer satisfaction Engage in hands-on prototyping, building, and rigorous testing of your designs, working alongside expert service and engineering technicians Drive the integration of automation and robust mechanical design principles to create tooling that meets the demanding needs of our current and future products, including vehicles and robotics Develop and meticulously maintain comprehensive design documentation, including 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and technical specifications Extend your impact by designing and developing tooling and robotic solutions for Tesla's diverse vehicle platforms and global service centers
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience At least 2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, or automation Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar) Proven ability to take projects from concept through design, documentation, and deployment support Solid understanding of core manufacturing processes (machining, welding, assembly) Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Cost (DFC) principles A strong aptitude for first-principles problem-solving

Expected Compensation
$106,400 - $256,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
