Overview
This position is fully in office, Monday through Friday, days.
Functions as a Paralegal in the Shands Corporate Legal Services Division. This position will provide high level technical support to healthcare attorneys and risk manager and will include, but not be limited to, work in the following legal specialty areas: property and casualty, insurance, contracts, corporate filings, facility licensure, real estate, immigration, and litigation. Additionally, position will assist with legal research and writing, database maintenance, document reviews, subpoenas, corporate record keeping, and various legal administrative tasks related to all facets and legal needs of the organization.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Associates Degree and a minimum of 3 years� experience as a Paralegal in two more of the following areas: general legal, claims, insurance, real estate, immigration or business. Prefer candidates who are registered as a Paralegal in the State of Florida. Candidates who do not possess an Associate Degree yet who have 5 or more years� experience (defined above) will be considered. Excellent verbal and written communications, to include grammar and spelling proficiency, is essential. The ability to independently complete sophisticated assignments, understand complex business transactions and draft and edit grammatically perfect, well-written documents is essential. Must be able to expertly execute and operate various types of office equipment and current standard hospital word processing, database, and spreadsheet software products. Prior work experience in an in-house legal setting in the healthcare industry is preferred. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a 'non-frequent driver' b. Please indicate the appropriate operator designation on the Request for Personnel (RFP) form at the time a RFP is submitted to post the position. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Paralegal certification required
