Job Summary
Registered Dietitians at Excelsior Orthopaedics provide truly exceptional patient-centered care under our collaborative model. This role is responsible for the evaluation and ongoing assessment and implementation of a comprehensive nutrition program using a variety of nutritional therapy interventions. Involved in community outreach and educational events to increase overall service line knowledge and accessibility.
Duties And Responsibilities

Excelsior Orthopaedics is a multi-specialty orthopedic practice that has been providing comprehensive care since 2002. We have multiple locations throughout the Western New York region and a free-standing ambulatory surgery center, Buffalo Surgery Center. Excelsior Orthopaedics offers a suite of in-house services including general orthopaedic evaluation and treatment, podiatry, physical & occupational therapy, nutrition counseling, sports training, outreach athletic training, orthopaedic express care, imaging, durable medical equipment, and an outpatient total joint program. Buffalo Surgery Center provides surgical and procedural treatments for orthopaedic, pain and spine, podiatry, total joint replacement, and gastrointestinal patients. The pay range for this position is determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, training, licenses, designations, and the overall market conditions.

Duties And Responsibilities

- Reviews physicians referral (prescription) and/or patients condition and medical records to develop specific nutrition therapy treatment plan. Spends time educating patient on nutritional principles, diet modifications and food selection and preparation.
- Evaluates effectiveness of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
- Records treatment, response, and progress in patients electronic medical record. Provides patient with resources for ongoing education to continue nutrition plan at home.
- Collaborates with other team members, including but not limited to registered dietitians, physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physical and occupational therapists, and athletic trainers.
- Responsible for meeting volume and outcome goals set by director and team lead.
- Ensures patient and client satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance and good public relations through the safe and efficient use of resources.
- Builds strong relationships and keeps communication open with physicians and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program, and integrate nutritional interventions with other aspects of patients health care.
- Other duties required as assigned.
- BS degree in the field of dietetics from an accredited college or university required, MS preferred.
- Current NYS Registered Dietitian license required.
- Member of the American Diabetic Association preferred.
- 2 or more years experience as a clinical dietitian required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and Teams; Experience with the following systems a plus: MEDENT.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to effectively exchange information with patients, providers, and staff.
- Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to provide patient care and operate equipment.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
- Position requires full range of body motion including ability to position and move patients.
- Extensive standing and walking.
- Frequent reaching, stooping, squatting, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Occasional lifting and carrying carry items weighing 25 pounds or more.
- Occasional exertion of 25lbs or more of force.
- Work environment may involve some exposure to hazards/physical risk.
