Senior Network Engineer
About The Role
We're looking for a Senior Network Engineer to be a hands-on, day-to-day owner of our network infrastructure — not a desk-bound architect and not a narrowly scoped project hire. You'll troubleshoot live production issues, lead network projects from design through cutover, travel to sites to support deployments and resolve issues that need boots on the ground, and share in an on-call rotation supporting a nationwide, always-on manufacturing network.
This role also plays a significant part in our ongoing network modernization efforts. We need someone who's equally comfortable running toward a 2am outage at a plant, leading a multi-site rollout, and mentoring newer engineers on the team, as they are working alongside our outside consulting partners on the bigger architectural initiatives.

What You'll Do
Day-to-day operations
- Serve as a hands-on escalation point for Layer 2/3 issues across our Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and Meraki environment
- Participate in an on-call rotation supporting a nationwide network running 24/7 manufacturing and business operations
- Travel to sites as needed to support new deployments, troubleshoot issues that require physical presence, and assist with cutovers — this is a genuinely hands-on role, not a remote/desk position
- Maintain and improve security hardening practices across the campus and branch switch hierarchy
- Lead network projects end-to-end — scoping, design, implementation, and validation — across our branch, data center, and cloud environments
- Take ownership of specific initiatives within our broader modernization roadmap, including SD-WAN migration, SD-Access/identity-based segmentation, data center fabric modernization (EVPN-VXLAN leaf-spine), cloud connectivity (AWS Transit Gateway, DirectConnect), and remote access modernization (ZTNA/VPNaaS)
- Partner with our outside consulting engagement as an internal technical lead during assessment and implementation phases — including actively absorbing and documenting their design rationale and methodology — with full long-term operational ownership of what's built transferring to you and the team as that engagement concludes
- Mentor and support other engineers on the network team
- Work with observability tooling (ThousandEyes, NetFlow-based platforms, Zabbix/PagerDuty) to build and maintain visibility across the environment
- Collaborate with security, systems, and OT/plant teams on IT/OT segmentation and cross-domain issues
- CCNP Enterprise certification required
- 10+ years of hands-on enterprise network engineering experience, ideally across multi-site/branch environments
- Experience with large-scale network modernization initiatives — SD-WAN transformation, identity-based segmentation rollouts, cloud connectivity projects, or data center upgrades
- Demonstrated experience leading network projects, not just executing tickets — you should be comfortable owning a design and seeing it through
- Willingness and ability to travel to sites as needed, and to participate in an on-call rotation
- Solid grounding in core routing/switching (OSPF, BGP, STP, VLANs) plus working knowledge of modern fabric- and identity-based architectures (SD-WAN, SD-Access/ISE, VXLAN/EVPN)
- Comfort working in a live production environment — this is an operational role first, with project work layered on top, not the reverse
- Strong documentation habits and clear communication, especially when coordinating across teams and with outside partners
- AWS networking experience (Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPC architecture)
- CCIE (Enterprise Infrastructure, Data Center, or Security)
- Experience with Cisco ISE policy design at scale
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
- Familiarity with NetBox or similar infrastructure-as-source-of-truth tooling
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial (OT/IT convergence) environment
- Exposure to ThousandEyes, LiveAction, or similar network observability platforms
- Prior on-call experience in a 24/7 operational environment
