Environmental and Regulatory Manager - South West Arkansas (SWA) Project

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a leader with project experience in Regulatory and Environmental Management responsible for overseeing regulatory, permitting, and regulatory compliance activities related to our South West Arkansas (SWA) project, in Lafeyette County AR. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with project commitments and supporting the successful execution of the SWA project.

In your role as the Environmental and Regulatory Manager, you will act as the regulatory representative for the project within the Owner’s team, coordinating with the broader project team, regulatory bodies, community partners, and industry stakeholders.

This is a Hybrid position based in Southwestern Arkansas. Routine collaboration and periodic travel across project offices is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide leadership, coordination and support across regulatory and environmental workstream during the execution phase of the project through handover to Operations.
• Lead the regulatory and environment workstream, working closely with the HSSE, Government Relations and Community teams.
• Lead all regulatory and permitting processes.
• Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Support the community relations, government relations and communications teams.
• Identify and assess regulatory risks and issues and effectively communicate them to project leadership.
• Manage the implementation of environmental and regulatory aspects of the Environmental and Social management plans, programs and initiatives.
• Work with the Project Director, Operations, Engineering and Government Relations, and other project teams to ensure successful regulatory outcomes.
• Foster collaboration across workstreams while enabling the supporting team to provide effective discipline leadership.
• Partner with the Procurement and Contracts group to incorporate regulatory and environmental requirements into contracts.
• Additional ad hoc regulatory activities required to support the project delivery in accordance with schedule and budget.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; advanced degree an asset.
• Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in regulatory compliance and/or environmental management.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with regulators, other stakeholders.
• Familiarity with environmental and social governance (ESG) compliance and industrial health and safety regulations.
• Strong knowledge of US and environmental statutory requirements, regulations, standards, and best practices. Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, relevant legislation, permitting processes, compliance obligations and environmental policy requirements.
• Experience with international standards including Equator Principles and IFC standards an asset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities both internally and externally, across communities and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a proactive approach to risk management.
• Upholds the highest standards of ethics in regulatory interactions, strengthening community and stakeholder engagement.
• Comfortable working remotely and ability to travel as required.
• Competent in using relevant software like MS Office and other business and communication platforms.
