Simon & Schuster is seeking a Manager, Social Media & Audience Growth to help grow our audiences by creating compelling social-first content, identifying emerging platform opportunities, and bringing our books into the cultural conversation.
Reporting to the VP, Content Marketing & Brand Development, this role serves as both a platform strategist and content creator—leading the day-to-day strategy and execution for TikTok, TikTok Shop, and YouTube while helping define how readers discover Simon & Schuster's books across emerging platforms.
Working across every publishing division, you'll collaborate with marketers, publicists, authors, creators, and internal partners to identify compelling stories, amplify frontlist and backlist titles, create engaging original content, and connect books with new audiences.

- Staying current on new platform features and recommending opportunities for experimentation.

- Develop original social-first concepts supporting frontlist and backlist publishing priorities.
- Amplify existing imprint and author marketing campaigns across your platforms.
- Extend the lifecycle of books through creative storytelling and platform-native content.
- Identify cultural moments, online conversations, and trends that create opportunities for book discovery.
You'll Be One Of Simon & Schuster's Primary Content Creators, Developing Engaging Social-first Programming That Reflects Both Our Editorial Voice And The Unique Culture Of Each Platform. Responsibilities Include:
- Creating engaging short-form video, photography, graphics, and written content.
- Capturing content at author events, consumer festivals, book launches, and other company initiatives.
- Experimenting with emerging formats, creator trends, and storytelling techniques.
- Collaborating with Video Production, Website, Events, Multicultural Marketing, Advertising & Promotions, and Design on integrated campaigns.
- Ensuring every piece of content feels authentic, timely, and native to the platform on which it appears.
You'll Use Platform Expertise, Audience Insights, And Editorial Judgment To Expand Simon & Schuster's Reach Across Emerging And High-growth Social Platforms. You'll:
- Monitor audience behavior, creator trends, and platform developments.
- Identify opportunities to participate in cultural conversations in authentic and meaningful ways.
- Develop programming that encourages community participation and book discovery.
- Support audience growth goals established by the VP and Senior Manager.
Social media continues to evolve beyond discovery into commerce. You'll help lead Simon & Schuster's social commerce initiatives by:
- Supporting shop strategy and affiliate marketing initiatives on TikTok, YouTube and Metas
- Building relationships with creators and affiliate partners.
- Identifying opportunities across TikTok Shop, YouTube Shopping, Meta, and emerging commerce platforms.
- Monitoring platform updates and recommending new commerce opportunities.
- Helping educate imprints and authors on social commerce best practices.
Social Media Is a Team Sport. You'll:
- Partner closely with the Senior Manager to execute Simon & Schuster's editorial strategy across platforms.
- Collaborate with imprint marketers to identify opportunities for corporate amplification.
- Contribute to the monthly Corporate Social Media All Hands meeting through platform updates, trend reports, and case studies.
- Build relationships with platform representatives and internal partners across Marketing, Publicity, Video Production, Website, Events, and Advertising & Promotions.
- Help maintain platform documentation and best practices for internal teams.

Qualified Candidates Will Ideally Have:
- 4–6 years of experience in social media, digital marketing, audience development, or content strategy for a consumer-facing brand, publisher, media company, or agency.
- Deep expertise across TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and emerging social platforms.
- Experience developing and executing social-first content strategies.
- Strong content creation skills, including copywriting, photography, and short-form video production.
- Familiarity with social commerce, affiliate marketing, or creator partnerships.
- Experience using social publishing, analytics, and project management platforms such as Sprout Social, Airtable, Meta Business Suite, or similar tools.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- A curiosity for internet culture and emerging social trends.
- A love of books and enthusiasm for helping readers discover new authors and stories.
