Business Data Analyst

About The Role

The Business Data Analyst turns operational and product data into reliable reporting, actionable insights, and decision-support tools. The role works across cloud data warehouses, transformation pipelines, and BI platforms to define metrics, investigate performance, and improve how teams use data.

You will partner with product, operations, finance, and engineering stakeholders to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analysis. The team needs someone who can write production-quality SQL, validate data across source systems, and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, data models, and recurring reporting workflows in Snowflake, BigQuery, or a comparable cloud data warehouse
• Build and manage dashboards in Looker, Tableau, or Power BI that track product, customer, operational, and financial performance
• Define metric logic and business requirements with stakeholders, documenting source data, calculation rules, ownership, and known limitations
• Analyze trends, cohorts, funnels, and anomalies using SQL and Python to identify drivers of performance and support business decisions
• Validate data pipelines and reporting outputs by reconciling source systems, investigating discrepancies, and partnering with data engineers on quality fixes
• Automate recurring analyses and reporting processes using Python, dbt, scheduled queries, or workflow orchestration tools
• Present concise recommendations to leadership and functional teams, connecting analytical findings to measurable business outcomes
  
  

What We Are Looking For

• 3–6 years of experience in business analytics, data analysis, product analytics, operations analytics, or a related role
• Advanced SQL skills, including CTEs, window functions, query optimization, data validation, and analysis across multiple relational data sources
• Hands-on experience with at least one BI platform such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI, including dashboard design and governed metric definitions
• Working proficiency in Python for exploratory analysis, automation, and data manipulation with libraries such as pandas
• Experience working with modern data stacks, including Snowflake or BigQuery and transformation tools such as dbt
• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, mathematics, computer science, business analytics, or a related quantitative field
• Bonus: Experience with Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment, Airflow, Git, experimentation analysis, or SaaS and marketplace business models
