Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control, SOF GLSS (Special Operations Forces Global Logistic Support Services) is looking for an experienced and proficient Aeronautical Sciences Engineer at our Lexington, KY.
Our team performs modification of military aircraft (both rotary- and fixed-wing) and ground vehicles to meet evolving operational needs. SOF GLSS supports the customer with a quick turnaround of added capabilities to existing platforms. Our mission is to rapidly and properly equip the SOF community with the best available systems anywhere in the world.
The desired candidate will be responsible for ensuring a quality solution that meets all of the defined airworthiness requirements. Analysis work will include stress, loads, vibration, fatigue and fracture, thermal, aerodynamic throughout the entire process from initial design to final delivery and production support. Additionally, work will involve proposal work, developing and tracking schedules and budgets, presenting results to the team and customer at events like PDR and CDR, and collaborating with other disciplines.
These responsibilities are defined to meet performance requirements of the SOF Mission area, in a collaborative manner across all functions. The goal is to arrive at technical and non-technical solutions in support of overall organization objectives and customer requirements.
Basic Qualifications
Full-Time Salary Range: $63400.00 - $117800.00

Basic Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with a Finite Element Modeling (FEM) creation using ANSYS, FEMAP, NASTRAN or similar programs
- Strong knowledge and experience in classical stress analysis methods (hand calculations)
- Demonstrated performance in a fast paced environment
- Skilled in presenting designs & analyses to customers to get approval that the design meets all static structural, dynamic structural, thermal, and aerodynamic requirements.
- Familiarity with LaTEX, VBA, and MATLAB languages
- Experience in dynamics, modal/vibration, co-site, thermal, and/or fatigue/fracture analysis
- Working with an airworthiness authority to get airworthiness certification of delivered products
- Responding to build issues and providing quick resolution to keep production on schedule
- Demonstrated previous success working in a team based environment to meet objectives
- Experience leading a team of engineers through various projects and analyses
- Familiarity with creating schedules, providing project statuses, generating Basis of Estimates (BOEs), and tracking budget requirements
- Government report or thesis writing experience
- Testing Experience
- Aircraft experience a plus including C-130, MH-60, MH-47, A/MH-6

- Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
