Data Analyst

A leading state education department is seeking a talented individual to contribute to its Office of Information and Reporting Services, playing a crucial role in leveraging data to inform policy and improve educational outcomes.

The Role

• Extract and analyze data using various management software (SAS, SQL, SPSS) to identify trends and perform root cause analysis
• Collaborate with program units to develop data collection and reporting processes, including business rules and specifications
• Conduct quality control checks and develop verification reports, drafting technical requirements and data definition documentation
• Provide constructive feedback and recommend improvements for existing and planned systems and processes
• Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders
• Interpret data analysis results, summarize findings, and draft reports to develop business intelligence solutions
  
  

What You'll Need

• Six years of experience in data visualization, statistical models, and data mining tools for Data Analyst 1
• Five years of experience in data visualization, statistical models, and data mining tools for Data Analyst Trainee 2
• Four years of experience in data visualization, statistical models, and data mining tools for Data Analyst Trainee 1
• An Associate's degree can substitute for two years of experience; a Bachelor's for four years; a Master's (in data/computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or related field) for five years; a J.D. for six years
• Preferred experience in a school, school district, BOCES, education oversight agency, educational institution, or related research institution
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
