Mechanical Engineer - C-130 Corrosion Engineering and Technical Operations

Location: Warner Robins, GA

Travel: 15-25%

Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong analytical, diagnostic, and technical documentation skills to support the USAF C-130 Corrosion Prevention and Control Program. This role involves engineering analysis, initiating changes to aircraft drawings as directed by the government using Auto CAD-LT software, corrosion-related systems evaluation, and technical assessment of C-130 aircraft. The position requires proficiency in engineering change processes, structured problem-solving methodologies, and aircraft maintenance data interpretation.

Primary Engineering Responsibilities

  • CAD Configuration Management - Maintain, update, and validate aircraft marking drawings and associated Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in accordance with USAF technical data requirements.
  • USAF TDY Engineering Assessments - Perform on-site corrosion and mechanical system evaluations at USAF installations worldwide, including data collection, photographic documentation, and engineering recommendations.
  • CPAB Technical Coordination - Engineer and manage all technical aspects of the annual Corrosion Prevention Advisory Board (CPAB), including Teams environment setup, briefing capture, A/V system configuration, and post-processing of technical presentations.
  • Aircraft Corrosion Engineering Support - Contribute to development and implementation of corrosion mitigation strategies for C-130 airframes across active duty, reserve, and guard units.
  • OSHA-Driven Engineering Initiatives - Support facility-level compliance efforts involving mechanical systems, safety engineering, and hazard mitigation.
  • Technical Reporting - Produce After-Assessment engineering reports and end of the year Corrosion Prevention and Control Final Technical Report including findings, data analysis, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Program Integration - Work directly with the C-130 Corrosion Manager to align engineering activities with program-level objectives.

Required Technical Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Proficiency with Auto CAD-LT and engineering change management workflows.
  • Experience with aircraft structures, corrosion science, preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and provide recommended changes to technical orders, maintenance data, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience applying engineering problem-solving frameworks.
  • Ability to work independently in field environments and collaborate within a small technical team.
  • Willingness to travel 15-25% for USAF assessments.
