The Office of Information and Technology (OIT) provides enterprise technology, connectivity, collaboration, and digital services across VA. The Connectivity and Collaboration Service (CCS) supports secure, reliable, and highly available network and communications infrastructure throughout the organization.


About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced IT Specialist (Network), GS-13 to support enterprise data center network infrastructure in Austin, Texas. This position focuses on maintaining and enhancing highly available network environments, supporting network performance and security, and resolving complex infrastructure issues across the enterprise.


The ideal candidate will have experience supporting enterprise data center networks, Cisco infrastructure, Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, network security, and network troubleshooting.


Responsibilities:

  • Configure, upgrade, and maintain switches, routers, and network infrastructure supporting data center connectivity.
  • Design, implement, test, and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 network environments.
  • Configure and support high-availability Cisco NX-OS data center environments.
  • Monitor network performance, capacity, traffic, and availability.
  • Troubleshoot network issues from the access layer through the LAN/WAN.
  • Support network changes, upgrades, and infrastructure implementations.
  • Develop network configurations, scripts, standards, and technical documentation.
  • Manage network monitoring and mapping using SolarWinds/Orion.
  • Support network security controls and vulnerability remediation.
  • Analyze network infrastructure requirements and support standardization across multiple facilities.
  • Respond to network outages and develop corrective actions.


Qualifications:

  • Experience configuring and supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Experience working in enterprise data center environments.
  • Experience with switches, routers, firewalls, load balancing, and LAN infrastructure.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex network environments.
  • Experience supporting network performance, security, and infrastructure requirements.

Pay Range and Compensation Package:

  • Salary: $109,428–$142,259 annually
  • Grade: GS-13
  • Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Authorized
  • Location: Austin, TX (On-Site)
  • Up to 25% travel
