Job Summary
The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving enterprise network infrastructure across Sanford Health locations and services. This role is focused primarily on fulfilling service requests and planned network work through ServiceNow, including configuration changes, provisioning, documentation, and operational support. While troubleshooting is part of the job, this position is not primarily a break/fix incident-response role.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on networking experience, strong technical execution skills, and the ability to manage request-based work efficiently while helping maintain reliable, secure, and well-documented network services that support healthcare delivery. Job Summary
The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving enterprise network infrastructure across Sanford Health locations and services. This role is focused primarily on fulfilling service requests and planned network work through ServiceNow, including configuration changes, provisioning, documentation, and operational support. While troubleshooting is part of the job, this position is not primarily a break/fix incident-response role.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on networking experience, strong technical execution skills, and the ability to manage request-based work efficiently while helping maintain reliable, secure, and well-documented network services that support healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Fulfill network-related service requests through ServiceNow, including standard changes, access requests, configuration updates, and infrastructure support tasks
Support and maintain enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations and care environments
Perform planned network changes and service delivery activities in accordance with operational standards and change management practices
Configure, monitor, and support technologies including routing, switching, wireless, WAN/LAN connectivity, and related network services
Support and maintain core network services, including DNS and IP address management (IPAM)
Work within a primarily Cisco and Infoblox environment
Maintain accurate documentation including network diagrams, standards, procedures, and configuration details
Collaborate with internal IT teams, vendors, and site stakeholders to complete requests and support infrastructure improvements
Assist with implementation of upgrades, deployments, and lifecycle replacement activities
Contribute to stable and secure network operations that support clinical, long-term care, and critical care environments
Participate in a weekly rotating on-call schedule to support after-hours operational needs
Required Qualifications
Associate degree or higher in Networking, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
2–4 years minimum of prior professional experience in network engineering, network administration, or advanced network support
Experience working with enterprise network technologies and completing request-based operational work
Solid understanding of:TCP/IP
Routing and switching
VLANs
WAN/LAN technologies
Wireless networking
VPN connectivity
Network troubleshooting and support methodologies
Ability to manage workload effectively in a primarily remote environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Valid U.S. driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle
Must reside within 50 miles of one of the approved regional locations listed above
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Networking, Information Technology, or related field
Experience with Infoblox, including IPAM and DNS management
Experience working in a Cisco-based enterprise network environment
Experience supporting distributed or multi-site infrastructure
Familiarity with ServiceNow or other IT service management platforms
Experience with operational documentation, standardized request workflows, and planned infrastructure changes
Industry certifications such as CCNA or similar are a plus
Work Environment
90% remote with occasional on-site responsibilities
Up to 10% travel to regional locations as needed
Participation in a weekly rotating on-call schedule is required
Work supports infrastructure critical to clinical, long-term care, and critical care operations

You maintain well-documented and dependable network services
You communicate clearly with teammates, partners, and stakeholders
You help ensure network services remain stable and available for environments that support patient care
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required in networking, computer science, information systems, or related technology field. Associate's degree with two years of equivalent work experience may be substituted for education.
Three years experience or advanced certifications in networking. Advanced knowledge of network routing and switching hardware, as well as network security equipment and best practices.
When applicable, may need a valid driver's license. If valid driver's license is required, must maintain a good driving record.
