MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Job Summary

Experienced engineer responsible for design and development of elevator components driven by customer and safety code related requirements. This position exercises discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

Essential Duties

  • Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
  • Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products.
  • Conducts product testing and creates models and prototypes as required.
  • Creates and/or modifies 3D models, design drawings and bills of material for manufacturing and field installation.
  • Performs design calculations and analysis to ensure integrity of the design.
  • Provides technical support to factory personnel during the manufacturing process and field personnel during the installation process.
  • Coordinates with factory and production to optimize designs for manufacturability.
  • Collaborates with peers to assist in technical problem solving and provide constructive feedback based on personal experience and engineering understanding.
  • Understands the system level integration of mechanical and electrical design elements and the significance of design changes on adjacent teams.

Job Qualifications And Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years in related design or manufacturing field.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, Autodesk software preferred.
  • Understanding of Building Information Modeling (BIM) preferred.
  • Understanding of building code preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Job duties are performed mainly within an established office environment under normal lighting and climate-controlled tolerances. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
  • Occasional travel to jobsite to assist with troubleshooting of elevator systems during installation is possible.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the industrial facility.
