The team is seeking a solid mid-level team member with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on networking experience. The ideal candidate is looking for long-term professional growth opportunities and possesses a 4-year degree and/or industry certifications. This role requires experience, creativity, and multi-tasking abilities to independently and collaboratively achieve department service and support objectives for the Transportation Operations Center. The individual should be able to work without assistance, manage medium complexity work efforts, and provide limited leadership to others while collaborating well with the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and support the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems or segments of network systems.
  • Maintain network hardware and software, ensuring network availability to all system users, and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
  • Supervise other network support and client server specialists, and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of local area networks or wide area networks.
  • Maintain the network's physical and logical structures, including network connections.
  • Analyze user support statistics and recommend appropriate measures.
  • Install, test, and maintain network hardware and software.
  • Prepare and analyze statistics on network utilization and availability.
  • Prepare training courses and provide user support and training in the use of available hardware, software, and utilities.
  • Perform tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of network resources.
  • Assess existing network, software, and solutions, making recommendations based on product specifications and best cybersecurity practices.
  • Configure equipment and software to meet business needs, train others on the solution, and document the solution for ongoing support.
  • Function as part of a team on larger projects or individually provide services on support visits or smaller projects.
  • Provide technical support and assist with the design of infrastructure solutions.

Technical Skills And Experience

  • Experience in technical services and support fields, as well as network administration (DHCP, DNS, routers, firewall, etc.).
  • Respond to Tier 1 and 2 network and software support requests.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates and customers of varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Respond to all break/fix requests associated with network resources.
  • Design extensions of and connections to the campus network.
  • Assist with configuration and deployment of new/replacement network hardware and communications infrastructure.
  • Maintain up-to-date project and architecture documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory and maintenance records.
  • Monitor network resources for faults and traffic anomalies.
  • Resolve connection issues between users and resources.
  • Maintain a detailed change history of network changes.
  • Support ITS Field Maintenance with communications implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Support team efforts to improve cybersecurity controls and defenses.
  • Support team efforts for threat hunting and mitigation.
  • Manage time and resource constraints effectively.
