Senior Process Water Treatment Practice Lead

The Opportunity
This role is ideal for a senior wastewater treatment professional who enjoys balancing technical excellence, client engagement, and team development.

You'll act as a trusted technical advisor across complex municipal wastewater projects while helping win and deliver high-profile programmes that improve communities and protect critical water resources.

The position offers a blend of technical leadership, project collaboration, business development, and mentoring, giving you visibility across some of the most significant treatment projects in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Lead wastewater treatment process design and technical delivery for municipal infrastructure projects from planning through detailed design.
Act as a subject matter expert across conventional activated sludge, BNR, MBR, tertiary treatment, disinfection, sidestream treatment, and advanced wastewater processes.
Develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, design criteria reports, basis of design memoranda, process models, and mass balance calculations.
Perform treatment process evaluations, technology selection studies, pilot testing reviews, and optimisation assessments.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative treatment solutions for complex water and wastewater facilities.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing technical guidance, strategic planning support, and regulatory compliance expertise.
Support business development activities through proposal development, client presentations, technical interviews, and pursuit strategy.
Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal utilities, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
Mentor, coach, and develop junior and mid-level engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
Contribute to practice growth by identifying emerging market trends, innovative technologies, and new service opportunities.
Present technical papers, project successes, and thought leadership initiatives at local, regional, and national industry events.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) licence or ability to obtain one.
10+ years of experience delivering municipal wastewater treatment projects.
Strong understanding of biological and advanced wastewater treatment processes.
Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams and complex technical workstreams.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
